And loving it! - Kinda. Actually I am working 40+ hours a week but that will end next Friday. And, Tommy is picking up a day or two a week while taking excellent care of me. He is gonna do a little work for a friend of a friend on Monday. Today when I got home he had: taken three loads of yard debris to the dump (have I mentioned how different the dumps are here? They are every 20 or so miles and you can just go in to these little parking lots for free and dispose of your recyclables, regular trash and branches all in one easy FREE trip - way cool and convenient - so I hear - its not like I ever go or anything.) then he got cleaned up drove 40 minutes applied at Budweiser (dream job - ya think) and a nursing home, came home rearranged and organized the kitchen, then he made me the big salad to be ready when I got home. I really wanna make enough money that I can have a house husband full time. Girls - quit hating, someday maybe you will find your hero - or train one of your own.
This weekends plans: more bread, burgers on the grill and a community sale that lists lots of yarn and crafting items. I am going to take my current boss with me she is a crafter too. Tommy is gonna go because the sale is next door to the Mary Ball Washington Museum. That's George's Ma in case your were wondering.
Yep being poor and unemployed could be worse. If we were more poor and worked less ;)

Job hunt continues.....
I have an interview tomorrow at the Y M C A.
Please wish me luck.
Tommy has applied for a job as a property maintenance manager assitant for what sounds a lot like MHMR in Texas. Also to be a flagman on the Highway.
Please wish him luck.
Also Mom's staples are out. Apparently that isn't as easy as stitches. Words were used. Bad words. I only see her at the end of the day and she is always dog tired from all the PT she is doing, but she says she is feeling better.
Lyle Lovett is so cool.

Birthday Eve
We went to The original George W's birthplace yesterday. It is situated on the potomac and Pope's Creek just past Montross. It was another gorgeous day, just perfect for the short walk through the grounds. The buildings onsite are all new reproductions but in the visitors center there was a display with artifacts found around the land. Those were my favorite part. Tommy was just jazzed about the whole thing. We are already making plans to go to Stafford Hall which was the Home of the Lee family. We are also planning to check out Mount Vernon - Washington's plantation as an adult, which I understand is supposed to be pretty impressive.
On the way home we stopped at one of the many produce stands and bought some pots, veggies and a mixed herb planter. I really love the fresh produce around here.
The most important thing that happened yesterday is that at the ripe old age of 43 years and 364 days old, Tommy ate his first orange. I was shocked. I knew he always said he didn't like them but I didn't realize he had never even tried one. Now he is a convert. He has managed to get over the "yucky" looks.

The haps
Mom is feeling much better!!! She is quick on her crutches. And the new knee bends properly - mostly.
Nothing new on the job hunting front. Altho Tommy has an interview Tuesday. He worked at my company a few days this week and had oil changing duty (see picture below.) As usual we keep him busy.
This is Tommy's birthday weekend and he is milking it. I just served him coffee in bed. He has really taken to the whole birthday eve concept that I introduced him to. If I say or do anything not to his liking he just says "Birthday" and I have to straighten up. We may take a trip to the nearest battlefield as a little treat for him today and tomorrow we are having a cookout at Mom's house.
All is well.

72 degrees and sunny
What a gorgeous day! Beautiful weather 72 degrees. We went to a farmers market and bought a rosemary plant. We had nathen's hot dogs on homemade bread and petted a bunch of dogs (always my favorite part). I really need to get in the habit of taking my camera when we go out and about. But since I didn't have my camera I took this picture in our yard to show what a gorgeous day it was.
Tom is thrifty
Tommy changed the oil in my car. And to make sure it was all official and stuff he put a sticker in the window just like them jiffy lube peoples do.
Bread
Finally I am starting to live the country life. We made bread. From scratch. With yeast. I am soooooooooo proud. remember from earlier pictures that our stove is pint sized. I woouldn't want you to think we made a huge loaf.
Yep I'm a baker. :)

The week in review
This week was looong. Mom had her surgery on Tuesday so we moved into her house Monday night to take care of the critters. We drove to Richmond and back Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The surgery went well but she was under anesthesia a bit longer than normal because of an emergency operation that came in. She has not been as pain free as we had hoped and has had a few issues that are getting better and better. She came home Friday and I stayed with her to give Pat a bit of a break. She is doing pretty well but still hurts a lot and the constant PT that she must do to be sure that she will be get full advantage of her knee is exhausting. All ya'all please send prayers or good thoughts or whatever towards her please.
In the mean time I have been working and looking for a job. My current employers know that I am still working. They can't offer benefits and I can't get by with out them.
Tommy would like to look for a job a bit more than he has been able to but my family is keeping him very busy with our lawn mowing, boat bailing, dog walking, chauffeuring to Richmond, physical therapy cheerleading needs. He is seriously looking into getting a contractor's license so that he can start doing installs for Lowe's and Home Depot. He will have to take a class and a test. I am very proud of him for looking into all this and keeping the rest of us going. Yay Tommy!
Speaking of Yay! Yay Destiny! Way to persevere girl!
more pix when possible.

What has been going on around here
Since I wrote last a few things have happened.
We went to The Blessing of the Fleet in Reedville Virginia. It was a very nice ceremony with lots of opportunities for great pictures that I didn't take. The best part? The weather! it was the most beautiful day yet. Sunny and warm with just a slight cool breeze. Gorgeous!!
I am now employed. I have to - no wait - get to take a ferry to and from work. And there is a dog there and a horse across the street. Tommy is still looking for work. Really he has only really started this week - poor thing I would rather work than look for work any old day. I got lucky I decided to try cold calling local businesses to see if I could send in my resume. It worked and I got referred for a job by someone I emailed a resume to.
Mom has gone to Joint camp to learn how to deal with her bionic knee after her surgery next week. I cannot wait to see he leap tall buildings in a single bound.
Basically it is all good in the hood currently. Sometime soon I will post more pix.
